Gamertag is our Character name?... or will we have a character name linked to our GT?



*I hope we can have custom character names like in Neverwinter which are linked to our Gamertag.

I searched ESO forums and couldn't find info on this issue for the Xbox One.

Character Names vs Gamertags

We should see character names; that is apparently the norm. I'm not widely experienced though. You can use the character name to chat or invite someone to a group though.

 

i think i may know who the shadow character is on the character selection

you know how when we switch between the 3 characters there is a shadow of someone on the bottom? i think this might be our multiplayer character. i think when we want to play GTA 5 online, we choose that 4th shadow character. who know's, we may even see
our MP character walking around los santos in single player. some people think its a future DLC character for a single player add on. i think its our MP guy or girl we make for GTA online. what do you all think? this might be how we choose to play online.

 

You have eight individual characters, and can choose their names. From what I understand, you link your ESO account (@name) and your gamertag on Xbox.

 

I appreciate your response. Are you saying that we also have to create a ESO account to go with our Xbox Gamertag, then create a character name?

Will people in the game world see our custom character names we create?

*I couldn't find a official response on this issue.

 

So I emailed ESO support, and they were kind enough to answer my question promptly.

They said we can have up to 8 online characters, and we will be able to choose the character names we want, no matter what our Xbox Gamertag is.

 

I'm gonna name my guy ghost spec op

 

Watching the Beta videos, looked like Xbox Gamertag showed up when you party up, invite chat etc I did not even notice character names but most of the beta I watched was on PS4.

 

So the way it works everyone is like this...

-Every character has their own name which is seen in the game via group, guild, party

-Your gamertag is most often seen as it pops up when you talk if you choose to use voice chat proximity.

When you look at a character, the first identifiable information is their gamertag as this is how you socially interact, add friends, contacts, invite, etc.
