    Gamertags to be Recycled 5/18/16!

    Nothing, but a hell of a marketing campaign. "How do you change a gamertag? Just do this, and today it's free", while the... other guy... can't change names at all, we are getting a free one.

    They do offer a free one upfront, but they also auto assign us our names that are stupid.

    I don't think they need to offer it free though, just cool idea, but not required i'm just glad they are giving the names back.

    People should get a new change gamer tag as people change and gamer tags may be irrelevant now.

    If people harrass you about your gamertag, file a complaint on them. Otherwise, you'll have to pay if you want to change your tag.

    Welcome to the Microsoft Answers Community! It sounds like you've already used your one free Gamertag change. Your free Gamertag change applies when you change your Gamertag from the auto generated one given to you upon account creation, in this case to HumanMp31974. If you would like to change your Gamertag in the future, you will need to pay the $10 change fee. I hope this answers your question. If you need more help, feel free to reach out here.

    I need my gamertag lower cased.

    The enforcement team does read the forums, but only the one dealing with bans. Outside of that, you get the one free gamertag change. If you need or wish to change it for any reason, including misspellings, you need to do a paid change. Even when a gamertag
    is in violation and the name change is forced, you still pay for it, it is not free.
