Gamertag has numbers though my name is unique as far as I looked up.

Hello,

So I want to change my gamertag to not have numbers at the end of them, at first I thought it was ok because Blizz does the same thing and the numbers are a no show in game, only in social adding a friend aspect. But that's not the case, I searched for someone with my name , and found no one with it without numbers or spaces. So why do I have a number? to my knowledge is not taken, yet it is?

Sometimes a gamertag search won't show on search depending on the privacy settings of the owner. Also, a search won't show if the gamertag is currently in reserve. If you get a number suffix at the end of the tag, it means it has been taken and I'm afraid there's nothing that can be done about this.

Simple names like aurora would always be taken but ice Brooke or moon brook etc thats common common use common sense

as far as I know, this is not possible, the numbers will make the Gamertag unique and are automatically generated, the Gamertag (without #0000) does not have to be unique anymore.

The details of the new gamertag system can be found here. The numbers are, in comparison, similar to Discord, which now allows the
system to free up names users want, while still keeping them unique. It prevents users from seeing "This GamerTag is taken" and require a strictly unique gamertag. It will show your name, followed by # and a string of numbers to keep you uniquely identified.
The page linked does a better job explaining than me, so take a look there which should have answers on the system.

The numbers reflect a shared gamertag that others have so the numbers are used to differentiate everyone using the shared gamertag.

If you can create a unique gamertag that no one else has then you will have that name witout any numbers at the end as you will be the sole occupier of said gamertag but given how many users are on xbox now it might be a struggle to find something unique
enough to achieve this but i wish you good luck 🤞
