GAMERTAG EXPIRATION

Discus and support GAMERTAG EXPIRATION in XBoX Accessibility to solve the problem; I've been trying to make a new gamertag and I found one I like but it was taken which I understand but the original acc with GT from what I can tell...     GAMERTAG EXPIRATION


    I've been trying to make a new gamertag and I found one I like but it was taken which I understand but the original acc with GT from what I can tell hasn't been logged on for 6 years so I was wondering does a person have to active on the acc for a set x or can he just log in and off real quick to reset it??

    Hello Till All Are One,

    As Smwutches has stated, our policy and changes to this policy within our
    Microsoft Service Agreement     states the following information:

    viii. Gamertag Expiration. You must sign into Xbox Services at least once in a five-year period, otherwise you may lose access to the gamertag associated with your account and that gamertag may become available for use
    by others.

    If a person doesn't sign into their account for 5 years, it is freed up for use. The policy started in 2016.

    If they sign into the account at all, it's considered active. They could also be using the account on a different Microsoft service.
