and error, trying to figure out what is available and what's not available. Microsoft and Xbox did release an article on

Xbox Wire, a few years ago, about releasing over 18 million Gamertags. However that was in 2016, so, as I mentioned before, I suggest the trial and error approach.

You could try that, but doing it doesn't guarantee that a 3 letter gamertag is available.

The chances that any 3 letter gamertag is available are very low, more if we take into account that the gamertag system has existed for more than a decade.

It is important to mention that even if you don't find users on the Xbox network with a 3 letter gamertag, this doesn't imply that a specific 3 letter gamertag is available.

No there is no random 3 letter/character gamertag available to chnage your gamertag to. You will have to wait until a v1 version resets or even if its deleted, a combination will come back.

The possibilities of finding one are very low, just for not say that you won't be able to find any 3 letter gamertag available.
