Gamertag changes

way back in 2000/01 when I first started xbox and live I had a gamer tag. While travelling, I let my subscription slide and had to create a new tag on my return. Is there any way of getting the old tag back ?

Even if you change your Gamertag, you purchases and saves are still locked to your account. I could change my gamertag right now and I still have everything. It stays with the email address you signed up with, not gamertag.

Need your opinion about a couple of gamer profiles

It cost 800 Microsoft Points to change a gamertag, $10. Change your gamertag of the one you like to something else, and then change the other one to the gamertag you like. $20 investment and your playing on the gamertag you want to play on, and you have the achievements to show off your progression of games.

Xbox live wasn't around in 2000/01.

Anyway,if it says your old tag is taken then it's taken.If it was unused then it was reset when they recycled all unused xbox gamertags a few years ago.

Your so smart - maybe it was 2002 then - it was a long time ago and I beta tested for months before it went on general release.

The first one you set up or the second ?

You do know you could have resumed with the original tag you created irrespective if you reverted to silver, no need to set a new 1 up.

I think I managed to get my Gamertag back after changing it. Can't remember how though as it was such a long time ago.

Yes, changing the gamertag again should be possible, als changing back to your previous Gamertag is possible, as long as your original Gamertag isn't already taken by somebody else.

Keep in mind each change will require a payment.

I'm afraid there are no free gamertag changes, if a gamertag was deemed to break the CoC/ToU then you will given a generated one and if you want to change the gamertag into something chosen by yourself it will have the fee like any gamertag change.
