    Gamertag changed without notification


    I play minecraft on my ipad and nintendo switch. I just signed in and my gamertag is different. Would they change it and assign something different without telling me? I don't like the new tag, and microsoft wants me to pay 10 bucks to change it. Thanks.

    Typically it would only be changed like that if you were given a forced gamertag change by the enforcement team because the tag violated the code of conduct. You can check http://enforcement.xbox.com to
    see if that is the case.

    Surely your gamertag was changed automatically because it did not comply with Xbox standards, so you will not be able to recover it and in my opinion you cannot change to another one for free.     You were warned.The code of conduct you agreed to when starting your account is your warning.

    That name is not a auto generated gamertag so you used your free name change when you picked that gamertag.

    It may be your name but that word also means something else which would be my guess as to why it was changed.

    You can appeal it by filing for a case review on the enforcement site here if eligible.

    If you want to change the name you were given then you will have to pay.

    You only get one when you first create the account and you receive an autogenerated one

    Fyi you aren't allowed to repost offencive names on forums

    And yes if you want a customized name again you must pay
