Gamertag change tool confusing tag without suffix

Once the gamertag is free for other accounts to use, you should be able to change it to that tag without the suffix. But for now, as it's reversed to the original account still, it will add a suffix for other accounts that try to use the tag. Please allow some more time and try again later.

Their are gamertags that are still registered from the system but are not searcheable anymore due to it being inactive. If the system still recognizes that tag, it will always provide you a suffix after it. If you want to have a gamertag without suffix, you can change it again and just make sure to double check before confirming if the system will provide suffix or not to know that this has not been used by anyone yet. But suffix is really not that bad since it will show up smaller in game, like being separated from the original tag.

The only way to have the tag without the suffix is to change it to a tag that nobody else has.

The only way to fix it would be to change it again which would involve paying again. There is no way to get another free change. If the system still sees your old gamertag as being in use or someone else has already taken it, you will be given the suffix
