Gamertag change mishap

Hello, I would like to ask a favor please. Last night my son wanted to change his gamertag...we read up on how to do it and checked his desired one (DodgeBallNuke) and it was availalble, However, in his excitedness, he reached across the keyboard over
me and pressed enter to accept the wrong name (before allowing me to check/verify it). As this was an honest mistake and just took place last evening, I was wondering if I could appeal to the good natures of the folks at Microsoft and have it be changed to
what he wanted without being charged $10 dollars (as I see it is to change again)? Would appreciate it greatly. He ended up accepting ''.

Xbox Live Gamertag Change Mishap

I recently created a new account and during the screen where I can change my name I left my xbox unattened. My little brother got to it and was clicking buttons. He was able to change my gamer tag to "licensed moose". I go to change the gamer tag but now
I have to pay $10 to change it. Is there any way I can change it without having to pay $10?

The only way to get a free change would be to start a new account. There would be now other way to get a free change.

You would need to call in support or use chat support. 1-800-4MY-XBOX. They do not read the forums. Not that I agree with this, but they honestly will probably decline your request.

is the gamertag on your console.. if it is you can find your WLID there. sign in - click on guide button - go to settings- account management - your information - WLID. if it's not on your console you can ring support, provided you answer ALL of the account
information, they will give you the WLID and help you reset the password... i had to do this once.. you have to answer a lot of tedius questions, but at least they will help you.

Randy's answer is correct, and the Xbox Terms and Conditions apply to everyone, so there is no preferential treatment. It's up to you, where you play your games, but hope you won't take drastic measures because of this situation.

It's been a fun ride on xbox for over a decade.

I'll be switching to another console due to the way this issue was addressed for my next gen console. I will advise others to do the same.

Hope you enjoy your new console, whichever one you choose to purchase. We're all gamers here, so it doesn't matter what console you play on, as long as you enjoy it.
