    I am attempting to create a new gamertag however I want one without the suffix at the end, I heard if the username is not taken there will be no suffix, however when I attempt to change my name it continues to give me random suffix numbers, additionally, when I look the gamertag up via community on xbox app and xbox gamertag search it says it doesn't exist, when I attempt to add them as a friend on xbox it throws an error and says to contact support? Called support to attempt to change my name they confirmed the gamertag does not exist, however I still can't get it without the suffix? Any help?

    The tag could have been permanently banned at some point. Or the tag could have been used at some point and MS may not have released it for reuse just yet.

    Hey there iLove! Regarding available GTs, please refer to this part of our Account Guide:

    I can't change my Gamertag (GT).

    Just because you can't friend request a GT doesn't mean it is available. First of all, all GT are tied to services like Zune or Games for Windows LIVE. If a GT doesn't exist on Xbox, it might be in use on one of those services. Also, spaces and capitalization
    are not considered when looking for available GTs. For example, "Major Nelson" is the same as "MajorNelson" is the same as "MaJoR nElSoN". Basically if the service says the GT isn't available, it isn't available.

    I heard old GTs are being re-added. When will "This GT" be available?

    There is no schedule or estimated dates for when certain GTs will become available again. GTs are not an on-demand service. They will be available when they are available.

    The Microsoft service is more than just Xbox. This means that although there is nothing on that tag per se, it could be used for another feature or service within Microsoft's domain.
