Gamer tag wont change

Hi All,

My son wanted to change his gamer tag we then found out we had to pay to do this. We allowed him and paid. On his old username he had #4375 after his username. He was not aware that a new number would be generated. so he typed newusername4375. once submitted he ended up with newusername4375#5787. he was not happy with this so he asked to change it again. We paid and he changed his user name but even though the cost was paid the username did not change. I tried on the website but it will not change. What can we do to change his username?

Make sure that you have completed the payment process for the second name change. Double-check your billing statements to confirm that the transaction went through successfully.

Log out of your account and log back in. Sometimes, changes may take a little while to take effect. Logging out and back in can refresh the account and show any changes that may have been made.

Your gamer tag was deemed inappropriate or offensive and they changed it because it violated the code of conduct.

You can argue to your blue in the face but you wont get the gamer tag name back.

If you are wondering why you didn't get a free name change you can blame the people that abused the system by just changing the gamertag to another offensive or inappropriate gamer tag.

So I suggest you let it go and either use the gamer tag you were given or buy some points and change it to an appropriate gamer tag that will not violate the code of conduct.

Well, you can always pay for a gamer tag change, because you wont get one for free.

Hiya!!

Sorry to hear that you are going through this with the gamer tag. Unfortunately you are not the only one that is going through the 15 character to 12 character transfer for gamer tags. But, unless it causes a technical error within the XBOX software, it's
doubtful that it wont be changed back anytime soon. It was obviously changed to 12 characters for a reason and anytime a gamer tag is set up, it's always a good idea to choose your gamer tag carefully, especially after you use up your 1 free change without
the added charge.
