Gamer tag with game pass ultimate

Long story short I’ve had Xbox live since the 360 first came out. I’ve had the same gamer tag since then. Last time I was on my Xbox 1 was around the beginning of 2017. I just recently bought a series s with the game pass ultimate bundle. When I sign into the game pass app on my phone, it prompts me to make a gamer tag that will be public across all of Xbox live. Like I said I already have a gamer tag that I’ve had for years, but with this new gamer tag [mod removed] Microsoft did, I’m 1 letter too long for it to work. I like my gamer tag and I don’t want to change it, yet there doesn’t seem to be a solution. Has anyone else had this problem and figured a way around it?

Tried to chat with Microsoft but they said they use 3rd party for chatting and that sounds too sketchy.

Depends what you mean by account. They’re on separate gamer tags/live accounts, but I’m sharing the game pass ultimate with him.

It’s the Ultimate version

I should say that my son has his own account/Xbox gamer tag.

I’m sharing the Ultimate pass with him as a family member.

Unfortunately there is no way around that. The new gamertag system only supports 12 letters. Hope that's what you were asking.

If I have a console w/Ultimate game pass, I can have multiple gamer tags /profiles on the same machine using the same game pass

but

If I have 2 consoles I cannot share Ultimate game pass between them because of licensing?

Correct.

Game Pass Ultimate includes Gold. If you purchase that, you do not need another subscription to play Forza with your friends. If you were to only purchase standard Game Pass, you would need Gold to play online with friends (and it would be cheaper to buy Ultimate anyway).

Do I need to purchase Gold Live AND console game pass to play Forza 5 with my friends w/o having purchased the actual game? Does game pass include Gold Live?
