GamePass Ultimate Family Sharing (specifically for upcoming streaming service)

Hi All,

Many thanks for taking the time to read my question.

My current set up is

1 x Xbox One, my 'home' console, for which I have a gamepass ultimate subscription

2 x Android phones / bluetooth controllers

Over the last few months, My Wife, Son & I have enjoyed playing games like Sea of Thieves, with

my son using the xbox which, with the benefit of my GamePass Ultimate subscription, can play the games and have access to the multiplayer aspects with no issue, and,

My wife and I both playing on our Android phones as part of the Xbox streaming preview (xCloud).

I'm aware that, as of middle of September, the streaming service becomes part of the GamePass Ultimate subscription.

My question is this - is there anyway that my wife can still stream games to her android phone using my gamepass ultimate subscription? Can this be shared as a 'family'?

If not, having a family subscription option for a few pounds more than the standard ultimate subscription would surely make sense for Microsoft to release (they had similar for Xbox Gold in the 360 era).

Hi,

That's my understanding - if you buy one game pass ultimate, you'll be able to use your sign-on for multiple xbox's and then your children would be able to sign in also and have the benefit of your game pass.

But you'll only be able to sign in as you on the game streaming side. So if you have an xbox, one of the kids can use that, and you on the mobile. But that still leaves you one game pass subscription short....

Bring back the old family subscriptions that they had in the 360 days, that would solve this issue.

This was my understanding also, but just wanted to check if anyone had any more info on it.

Given I'm already paying the £10.99 a month, I can't warrant spending the same amount for my wife so that she can join in, via streaming only, a couple of times a month.

However, if Microsoft were to give a 'family' option and charge a few pounds more a month, this would be a lot more palatable.

There must be others in the same situation where this would be useful?

Hi ByhamC,

I believe you will be able to sign in to xCloud and your console (using the same profile) at the same time, but you won't be able to sign in to two xCloud streaming devices at the same time, so I don't think she will be able to use it.

Can any other ambassadors confirm this?

There's no news a family plan yet, but things may change.

Just bought Game Pass Ultimate assuming all family members would get xcloud gaming on android devices?

I guess not?

Are we really going to have to pay almost €40 per month for me and 2 kids to use xcloud? That's insane.

Pretty sure they canceled the family sharing plan idea. And I'm specifically referring to GamePass. Not purchased license for games.
