    GameDVR:Moving/copying videos to external drive??

What I would love is to select all videos on the game dvr and move them to the external drive. I would also love to set the game dvr to use the external drive to write the videos to instead of the local drive.Setting the bitrate and resolution for the output
would be great too for the writing to the external drive.

Currently the process is very long to get say 10 videos off to use for YouTube. I have to edit each one, upload each one, and download each one. For 10 videos it could take me over two hours on DSL just to upload them.

I have the new update that allows you to connect a 256GB or larger 3.0 USB drive, I have a 500GB 3.0 drive connected and formatted. I want to move/copy my game DVR videos onto that drive instead of uploading and downloading each of the over 200 videos I
would like to use. Currently I did not see an option in the game dvr or when I select edit on the video to put them on the external drive.

    :)

2TB Seagate External Hard Drive Will Not Download Certain Games

    EDIT:

    - Tried reformatting drive after failed download.

    - Tried changing attached external hard drive to different USB ports that can be installed on Xbox.

When moving or copying the base game to external hard drive, download usually stops around 0.7% to 0.9%

    Backup gaming clips

    Hello Kursaalflyer,

Thank you for your quick response.

It appears that the capture location for your external drive is saved to GameDVR folder and XboxCapture copies folder. When copying multiple copies it goes directly to Xbox Capture Copies folder while captures clip is directly saved to GameDVR folder.

The GameDVR folder in external storage is a folder that contains the game clips and screenshots that you have recorded using the Xbox Game DVR feature on your console. The Game DVR feature allows you to capture your gameplay moments and share them with your friends or on social media. After recording clips, your external drive can now be plugged into a PC, where the traditional video files can be extracted. This essentially turns your console into a simple capture card, allowing recordings to be locally transferred for use in PC-based editing software. All files created by Game DVR can be found under the "Game DVR" folder automatically created on your drive.

The Xbox capture copies folder in external drive is a folder that contains the copies of the game clips and screenshots that you have recorded using the Xbox Game DVR feature on your console and then transferred to your external drive. The Xbox Game DVR feature allows you to capture your gameplay moments and share them with your friends or on social media. By transferring your game captures to an external drive, you can save space on your internal drive, backup your captures, and access them on other devices.

You can edit both the files saved on the GameDVR folder and the Xbox capture copies folder using PC editing tools. The difference is that the files on the GameDVR folder are the ones that you have recorded directly to your external drive by setting it as your capture location, while the files on the Xbox capture copies folder are the ones that you have copied or moved from your internal drive to your external drive. Both folders contain the same type of files, which are MP4 video files for game clips and PNG image files for screenshots.

We look forward to your response. Kindly let us know, if there is any misunderstanding or clarifications of our description by sending us a reply.

    Backup gaming clips

    Hi,

I have some results to questions.

    1. I only recently used an external drive to copy clips following a recent XBox notification that older clips would start to be deleted.

    2. I now copied 20 clips to the external drive connected to the XBox rear USB (previously I used the front USB). Only 10 copied to the newly created XBoxCaptureCopies.

    3. I set the XBox to save clips to the external drive as you described and created one. The system responded saying copy made to external drive. When I checked no clip was copied to the XBoxCaptureCopies folder BUT I noticed a GameDVR folder and that is where the clips had been stored. When I tried to play via Window Media Player it failed saying I needed to purchase the correct Codex, thats another issue.

    4. As mentioned the external 1TB drive is my laptop back up with 865MB free. I have a seperate games backup drive but I was reluctant to use that as I was not sure if the backup app would format the drive before use.

    Did some further testing

Made a clip after setting external drive as capture. The Clip was saved to the GameDVR folder. It appears when you select multiple files to copy they all try and go to the XBoxCaptureCopies folder whereas captures made at the time go to the GameDVR folder. Very confusing.

    Hope this is helpful.

Games automatically deleted from external drive

Why are you copying the game over instead of moving it to the external drive? That way you don't have to delete it after you moved it.

And maybe you accidentally already moved it, and deleted it from the external drive when it was already moved (deleted) from the internal drive.

    Dirty laser? How to clean?

If you have enough space on your external HDD, copy everything there from inside the Xbox.

Make sure your saved games are in the cloud. Then on the new one just set your default drive to the external

Open Settings on the Xbox One.

    Open the System tab.

    Select Storage.

    Select the internal drive.

    Select Transfer.

Select items you plan to transfer. If moving all items, choose Select all.

Choose Copy selected to copy the items between drives.

To move the items, select Move.

    Choose the Ext. drive.

Press Copy or Move to transfer.

After transferring your games to an external hard drive, plug it into the new Xbox One.

Stored should appear in your library.
