Gamebar notifications/overlay cause games to stutter

Whenever I try to use the xbox gamebar in any game it causes massive stuttering problems. If i unlock an achievement in a gamepass game it also stutters until the achievement pop up fades away. I have a fairly beefy computer and im not doing gamestream, the games are on my computer.

Hi there! Christopher here, an Xbox fan and has been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. I used to have the same issue and I recommend disabling global V-Sync in NVIDIA Control Panel.

the logo might be an overlay from the program, the xbox gamebar will only capture the window or fullscreen application. it does not capture overlays all the time.

it comes through gamebar, open gamebar and you can adjust the notification there, or open setting and adjust notifications for certain times. gamebar runs all the time in the background and the only way to remove gamebar is via a shell command but then that messes up the invite system then.

Use OBS to record and set as display capture, gamebar will only capture application window and it ignores a lot of overlays, CAD apparently loves to draw elements onto overlay which some screen recorders ignore or cannot record. OBS will capture most but will also miss some.

it would appear that there is a glitch with the overlays for notifications (achievements and invites) and the voice overlay (displaying GT of person talking in Party)

if the Power Cycle doesn't work, for a workaround you could turn off the voice overlay in the Party (press the XB button to bring up the side bar then highlight Party and press A then highlight Voice Overlay and switch it to Off)

you can also turn off individual notifications to minimise the disruption to your gaming (although you'd probably want to keep invites and messages on)
