Game update question

Last night I got prompted to do an update for Gears Of War 4 when I tried to play it, I started to download the update and the update stopped at 20% complete. I tried power cycling twice, as well as unplugging and replugging my ethernet cable back in and
the update still would not resume. I was forced to cancel out and I had to redownload everything again, I know it wasn't my router because I was also my PS4 at the time too. Additionally my Xbox One also has the newest system update. My question is, is there
a way to cancel out of a game update only so I don't have to delete the entire game, if no then why hasn't Microsoft added this option?

I agree with you about the update overwrite the original files, but in most of cases the size of the game goes up, and in extreme cases are absurd like this particular example just for mention one...

Remastered, content installed from the disc 24GB. (Wich i believe includes all the the new textures and improovements, triple size of the Original Game, is a Remastered work over the Original Game, not a new Game)
Update: 73.97 GB

So what content include this update? Online Maps? Really? Textures of 40MPixels 8800x4600? what for? as i know 4K is 3840 x 2160 pixels wich is 8Mpx, enough for the 4k Format.

Uncompressed Audio and Video Files? Why?... Our console is able to manage very well compressed as H264 or MP3 files... So someone is not doing his work right.

The game updates (not system, but game) reside in the System Cache and are deleted if you do the Clear System Cache procedure, FYI, but the latest version automatically redownloads the next time you run that game, so it's a painless
process.

When a title update comes out for the game it downloads to your harddrive, so no it will be updated for all gamertags playing on the console.

You can pause updates, but you can't cancel them. The reason is because updates modify the contents of the already installed game files directly. Incidently, this why you can't play a game that is in the process of being updated.

This isn't something that can be fixed in a dashboard update. The files for updates aren't downloaded then installed, they are downloaded and installed at the same time.

Updates overwrite the original game files. If your installed game is say 40GB, and the update is 10GB, this won't necessarily mean your updated game now uses 50GB.

Hello Dan,

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. Unfortunately, there is no way to cancel that update without uninstalling the whole game. I myself have had to go through this myself, and would love to see some sort of option in there to cancel a game update
without interfering with the game file.
