game update ended up redownloading the whole game

You'll just have to download the update, not redownload the whole game.

Hey I just ended up having to uninstall and reinstall the game and it updated. It took me about an hour to redownload which sucked though.

I'm not having the issue to the same extent as you... but whenever there is an update to a game, my console opts to just reinstall the whole game instead of just the update. The only "fix" is to uninstall the whole game and redownload it again. You don't
know how fun it is to download 78gigs of content only to not be in the mood to play it once it's finished...

You can't cancel updates as it'll cause the whole game to uninstall. I've had it happen to me a few times, once with GTA V and that game is HUGE.

You have to redownload the entire game, sadly.
