Discus and support game update ended up redownloading the whole game in XboX Insiders to solve the problem; alpha ring, all other updates went through fine but turned the xbox on and rdr2 is redownloading the whole 100gb... i wouldnt mind so much if it wasnt...     Do you have to re-download a game to play on xb onex?

    You'll just have to download the update, not redownload the whole game.

    I'm not having the issue to the same extent as you... but whenever there is an update to a game, my console opts to just reinstall the whole game instead of just the update. The only "fix" is to uninstall the whole game and redownload it again. You don't
    know how fun it is to download 78gigs of content only to not be in the mood to play it once it's finished...

    My download completely got deleted

    You can't cancel updates as it'll cause the whole game to uninstall. I've had it happen to me a few times, once with GTA V and that game is HUGE.

    You have to redownload the entire game, sadly.
