Game streaming locked out, Help please, need genious

Ok, here goes.

My game pass apps, on my phone, PC, and tablet, have stopped working. They open, but I get the message that game streaming isn't available in your region. THIS IS RECENT. It was working fine for months! Yes I'm logged in, have game pass ultimate, I restarted everything multiple times, erased the data and cache, uninstalled, reinstalled, rebooted router, reset the phone to factory defaults, called Microsoft, called my isp, took out my router, no VPN being used. I'm Ugh.

It's worked fine before!! For months! Oh I live in the US, San Francisco, California.

So I have a local isp, they are great, super fast, reliable, have real people and techs working, no other network issues. I have gigabit up and down, synchronous, yes I get 700 megabits up and down, even on a bad day. I have an Xbox one, signs in fine. A one plus 7t pro McLaren, a nexus 10 tablet, and a Samsung S8 tablet. Everything is updated, Android 11 on phones and tablets, 5ghz wifi signal, and it's strong.

When I log into the android app the region msg pops up, and the "play" buttons are greyed out. I really have tried everything, made a new Xbox account, set up family controls, took em off, reset the location and times on my accounts. It just won't work.

My theory is since my isp is local and independent, MS doesn't see the ip as being legit, maybe it thinks it's a VPN, or it can't look up ARIN properly. Dunno.

I've used different DNS servers also. And it's a Google wifi router, I've factory reset it a few times also.

I doubt anyone can help me, and customer service will never properly tell and engineer about this, let alone put me in touch with one. My only hope is that someone sees this and has delt with it before.

Fingers crossed, I'm pulling my hair out. I just wanna use my tablet for games in bed so the wife can watch tv, is that too much to ask?

When you say a different dns do you mean Google dns ?

That's a vpn

Use the whoisip to see where your geoip is reporting as

No, dns servers are not a VPN.

My isp has a dns server that I use, because it's faster and local, with a few domains blocked and unblocked.

I use that dns server and also googles 8.8.8.8

Dns servers are in no way a VPN. They just resolve urls to ip addresses.

This shouldnt matter much always in terms of the game pass app, unless there is some obscure domain that isn't resolving. Looking at active connections, most of it is ip based anyway

Most sites geolocation sites say I'm in California, but 1 in 4 says Russia.

Again not using VPN!!!!!

Wow. Just wow. You don't even have a clue. You clearly do not know what you are talking about. My local fiber isp is really a VPN to Russian. Holy cow dude.

Read up on dns and re read that article. Dns blocking, as in your isp won't tell you where it is, so you use public or Google dns server and it tells you where to send traffic, it doesn't go through it. Not a proxy or VPN.

Domain name service is not a virtual private network. Sweet baby j

Hate to burst your bubble but read the article it does change your geoip

And yes other users have reported as such

It is used to bypass geo restrictions including reporting as US and EU LOCATIONS due to the geoip trace

One of the many troubleshooting steps we use for region locks

depending on which dns server you use from google

And yes that is A thing

Guess how they fixed it

Not using google dns and using their own isp dns

This is tracked by your whois command

Or samba if you use Linux which traces your connection routes

If some of your geoip is reporting as Russia then you have ip leaking

Which you need to take up with your isp

That could mean they are using a vpn or proxy

If you are using Verizon they are international maybe you are routing thru one of their EU gateways

We can't help with ip leaking cause it is your isp side

I'd use whois command or traceroute to confirm your geoip

It's a direct command via your computer

Or speedtest.net does the exact same thing
