I'm glad to hear that. This could be an specific bug with some child accounts, please report this problem / share this feedback with the Xbox team:

I recently helped someone that faced a similar issue. Please give a try to my answer:

"Is the account that you want to use as home Xbox a child account?

This can be a bit odd but:

If yes, can you try temporarily change the birth year and make it +18

Then remove and re-add the account as a family organizer using the link below:

https://account.microsoft.com/family/home

After that remove and re-add the account in the console and try again"

Finally revert the changes and give the account the proper role.

You may need to ask to the adult account this favor. (The same applies for your friend if they're in a family group)

Thank you for the suggestions, bad news though. I tired all three ways you suggested and none of them worked. They all came up with the same “Unable to save changes. Try again later”. My account is connected to an Xbox family, although I don’t think that is the issue because I’ve game shared with two of my friends before and I was in the family when I did that. I was able to make my Xbox home on my friends account but my account won’t accept either of our Xbox’s. Do you have any other ideas that I could try?

May I know if you tried using a different wifi network in your Xbox?
For example sharing mobile data via wifi hotspot and connect your console in that way

If you already tried that, what about using a different DNS address?

go to Settings > Network > Advanced Settings

Once you’re inside the Advanced Settings menu, go to DNS settings and select Manual from the list of available options.
When you get to the next screen, enter 8.8.8.8 in the box associated with the Primary DNS and 8.8.4.4 in the Secondary DNS box.

Once the default DNS addresses have been changed, restart your console and see if the issue has been resolved at the next console startup.
(If that doesn't work use instead 1.1.1.1 as primary and 1.0.0.1 as secondary)
