Game sharing issue.

My friend and I are game sharing (for those who don't know, in a nutshell, he gets the games I buy, and I get the games he buys). Recently I bought Final Fantasy XV, and One Piece: Burning Blood. I was able to install them, but my friend can't. The 2 games
aren't showing up in is "ready to install" menu, and whenever he tries to go into the store, it says he has to buy the game. He tried signing into my account, only for the same thing to happen. It's not in his "ready to install" menu, and he can't download
it from the store. I've been told in chat support that it's because he's not in the preview program, and I am.

I own both GTA and Destiny, he doesn't own them. He already set his Xbox as my home Xbox as well.

I'm sorry to see any issues with Home console! Seeing this, I checked with the team that looks into these issues since we had a known issue with this last week. It appears that the console you're attempting to make your Home console has hit the limit of
users able to set the console as their Home. You will need to have a few accounts remove that console as their Home so that you can set it.

If you continue to have issues after doing that, please let me know! We'll be able to dig into it further from there.

Chat support is correct. Currently preview members can only play games purchased on the original console they were purchased on. Once the update is released to the public you will be able to share them again.

 

Have the same problem here, today I buy DOOM and my brother couldnt install it. Support said it was a preview issue. Does anyone know where is going to launch de update?, this situation really sucks, i really want to install and old version of xbox system
right now to solve the problem.

 

There's no official word yet on when the update will go public, but probably in August.

 

I just have to chime in here.

Microsoft has a policy for people not to share their passwords/email for security.

And yet with game sharing you have to share your password and email ?

I know they can enter it in themselves on their own box but one option is to share the password.

I forsee a lot of stolen accounts on here. I hope by then they change the way it works.

 

You don't have to share your account information in order to share games. Any console you have set as your Home console can share the games on your account.

 

I have read sites that say you both must share info.

One example

"If you want to share your game with someone else then you need to share your Xbox Live email and password with the person and if you want your friend to share his/her games with you then he/she must share their email/password with you."

I can name numerous other ones too. But nothing on the official xbox sites that I can see.

All of them state to change your password afterwords.

 

Sharing your account information is definitely a violation of the code of conduct and following those instructions can result in getting banned. But in reality, you really don't have to give your account information at all.

 

So that was an old version ? because it was officially a feature on xbox one.

You can sign into a friend's Xbox and set it as your Home console without them needing your account information.

 

First you dont have to read me the "riot act" as I said I KNOW its against policy hence while I brought it up. I will post it again what I already said the first post "Microsoft has a policy for people not to share their passwords/email for security."

I have been an ambassador myself.

Second that page you brought up is about setting up your home xbox which has always been a sharing feature of the Xbox one. My wife has always signed into my console to test if she likes a game before she buys it on her own console.

What it sounds like to me is the OP is talking about two separate consoles. Hence the "violation" I already mentioned.

I didn't intend my message to sound like I was reading you the riot act. You asked for MS links.

With the Home setting, a lot of people have been sharing games with friends on separate consoles, but it doesn't necessarily mean they gave away account information.

Hence again for my post. No offense to the OP but it seems like he is actually following stuff like that website I quoted throughout his post.
