Game sharing does not work

My friend and I have been game sharing for about 5 months now. We’ve had no issues whatsoever until I wanted to download Elden Ring after he purchased it digitally. For some reason, this game is the sole thing I can’t download through our game sharing. We have the home Xbox settings correct, and every other game we own is shared and working perfectly. I’ve checked in the ready to install section in my games and apps on both of our accounts, but the game still does not show up. Even attempting to download it from the store on his account doesn’t work, as it reads that he never actually purchased the game. This is despite him very clearly owning the game and being able to play it on his Xbox. Does anyone know what might be going wrong? I appreciate any help that you can give me!

Since you have used his account in checking the game but it is stated that he did not purchased it, there is a chance that it was purchased under a different account of your friend.

Kindly ask your friend to sign in to https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders to validate if it was purchased under the correct account.
