    Game save data getting deleted every time I use XBOX dev mode


    Ever since I started using the XBOX dev mode, I noticed that, if I start up dev mode and then switch back to retail mode, all my game saves get deleted and have to get downloaded every single time; it doesn't matter if there's an external drive connected or not; it doesn't matter if I use Safe Exit app; it doesn't matter if I disconnect other external drives from the console prior to enter dev mode (because I have games in an SSD, and still game save data gets deleted from there), it always happens that those files get deleted and I have to download them again from the cloud, which wouldn't be that worrying if I didn't lose any of those files with my games' progress; but unfortunately it happened to me a couple of days ago that I couldn't restore a game save file for one of my games and I had all my progress lost, and it stresses me that it could happen to another game in the near future.

    Is there a way to prevent this from happening? Is this a bug and I have to do something like restoring my XBOX through a factory reset? Is this meant to happen and every time I use XBOX dev mode will this occur? Please, I need a proper and detailed answer

    How to delete a save game?

    Sorry to hear it. If you're on an Xbox console highlight the game on the dashboard and go down to Save Data then choose Delete All. This should delete all save content on the console and Cloud. If it does not then the game dev stores save data on their own servers. For that you would need to contact them for more help

    Factory Reset when I switch back to retail mode from dev mode

    Hello Realzmg,

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

    When switching from dev mode to retail mode on your Xbox, you may deactivate your console in dev mode through Xbox Dev Mode app, reset your console and deactivate your console using Partner Center. This is because dev mode allows for the installation of unsupported software and changes to the system that are not compatible with retail mode.

    Unfortunately, there is no way to disable the factory reset or save your data before switching modes. It is recommended that you back up any important data before switching modes to avoid losing it.

    Thank you for taking the time to reply to this post.

    There is no way to manually manage your save data on the Cloud. The save data syncs automatically when you launch your game, while connected to Xbox Live.

    Are you sure you are using the same account you were using previously?

    There is a way to delete your save data on the cloud, but this is something that can only be done manually, so your save data wouldn't get deleted unless you actually chose to delete it.

    Battlefield 4 - Save games for campaign are gone...

    I just finished battlefield 4 campaign and then played multi player. After a few hours campaign saves were deleted. I deleted save folders on XBOX one and then synced to xbox live and it said I got my save data back and still have to start all over in campaign
    mode.

    This has happened twice!! Its only after switching servers and playing for a long time, I checked after playing for 20 minutes the second time, and it was good after the next hour of playing save data no long exists it seems.

    Can I get an update for this game? I heard they released a fix for it?
