seem the us are getting better value for digital games

id rather pay £40 plus Vat = £48 than £55 any day

and the fact you cant resale the games should mean the price would be cheaper

 

There's also the issue of bloated budgets in videogames. Even if you cut manufacturing costs, the expenses are simply too large and, well, they have to recoup the money somehow. That's assuming we're talking triple A games here.

 

@JimhSnr -- I live in Ohio (USA) and I get charged sales tax when I purchase my games. For a brand new game, it normally runs around $65 or so. He11, I get charged sales tax for anything I purchase on Live.... I rented a movie on Xbox Video yesterday and
had to pay an extra 60 cents for that.

 

In Europe digital games are often more expensive than when i would get it online or in store.

Digital games: 70€ (79$)

Store bought:55-65€ (62-73$)

Online+shipping:45 (very rarely)-55€ ( 51-62$)

All prices are for new games and at the current exchange rate of Jan 26th 2015 but the Euro seems to have dropped as a 70€ game converted to dollar was roughly 86$ last month

 

I dont mind paying full price like stated above a disc and a flimsy case aren't that expensive I usually go Disc for Smaller games and Digital for Online/ Big games, like GTA and Destiny because I know DLC.

 

I agree people need to be paid. My problem is there should be a base price globally before taxes on the price of games.

It just seems unfair that certain country's are paying a lot less than others for the exact same product.

I was also looking at the master chief collection and the pricing is very similar on the Microsoft store in both the UK and US.

Just certain games are significantly at a higher price IE: GTA V .

Remember when gaming companies were making the decision to remove actual manuals from their games? They claimed it was due to wanting to be more proactive regarding the environment and save on paper. Then the game's cases became super flimsy and easily breakable
since they were all made from recycled materials. It was more for making genuine hard copies of games less valuable.

As I mentioned in my previous post in the thread, developers love the idea of digital copies due to it removing the second-hand, or better known as used or borrowed games, market entirely.

I've managed to get a £50 ms gift card for £43 off ebay.

So I should get the game for around £48.
