Game pass ultimate sharing among two xbox ones

Forgive me but I am a noob on this topic and find it very confusing. We have two xbox ones in our home (with Gold on each) and one PC. For Christmas we purchased game pass ultimate. For the two consoles, the living room console is the home xbox and the
garage one is not. (I think) my boys set up game sharing on their two xbox's, because whenever a digital copy of a game is purchased with the home xbox, we are able to download it for free on the garage xbox.

Now to the questions. As expected, when signed into the home xbox with the primary profile you have access to the game pass games. When you sign into the garage (non home xbox) with the primary profile associated with the game pass subscription, you have
access to the game pass games (which makes sense to me). When logged in under the primary profile, you can download game pass games to the garage (non home xbox). BUT what threw me off is when you log out of the primary profile on the garage non home xbox,
and log in with a different profile, you can STILL play the downloaded game pass games. So essentially game pass games can be played simultaneously on two Xboxes, although what games are played on the non home xbox are controlled by the primary profile.

Is this how this is supposed to work? You can download game pass games on a non-home xbox using the primary profile associated with game pass, and then play them later on that non home xbox when logged in under a different profile?

Or are you supposed to have a game pass subscription for each xbox?

It seemed to me that we had to have GOLD on both Xboxes so both can be used simultaneously for multi-player/online, so I was thinking maybe you had to have two game pass subscriptions, one for each xbox.

Thanks for coming to the forums with your questions. Typically no it isn't supposed to work that way when you are on the non home Xbox under a different profile than the one with the subscription. The best way to do this would have the profile that owns
the Ultimate subscription play on the non home Xbox. All other profiles, would play on the Home Xbox. The way it is supposed to work on the non home Xbox only if the primary account is logged in.

with 2 Xboxes you only need 1 Gold/Gamepass or Ultimate Gamepass subscription if you set the right one as Home for the profile that purchased the subscription.

if profile A has the subscriptions and normally plays on Xbox 1, they sign in on Xbox 2 and make that their Home Xbox.

this allows anyone who signs in on Xbox 2 to play any of the digital games and make use of the subscriptions purchased by profile A.

profile A will have access to all their games and subscriptions on any Xbox they sign in on but will only be able to play offline on their Home Xbox.

I understand your question.
To share subscription between PC and console, you need Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

• The Game Pass for console works only on the console.
• Game Pass for PC works on PC only.
• Game Pass Ultimate works on both

On PC, even if Xbox Game Pass Ultimate there is no option to share it yet but if you're pertaining to Xbox console, yes, you can share Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
