Game Pass Ultimate deal/promotion

If he has bought game pass before but not the Ultimate, then he is seeing the promotion for new subscribers. Here in the US it is 2 USD for 1 month but it only for new subscribers. He could have purchased game pass in the past. But if he never purchased
Ultimate he will see this deal. Also, promotions come and go for people it is random when they show. Most times it shows for people that haven't subscribed.

There's a conversion rate when you swap from XBL Gold or Game Pass to Game Pass Ultimate, there used to be a limited time deal where it would convert it at a 1:1 ratio when Game Pass Ultimate first launched but I don't think that applies anymore.

This does still apply and is not attached to any promotion. So if you apply the 12 months of Gold first and then purchase Ultimate it will upgrade at 1:1. It doesn't matter if you previously had Ultimate or bot.

Xbox is full of deals and discounts. You can pick up 1-3 months of Game Pass Ultimate for $1 during deal promotions. That is access to hundreds of games for the price of the subscription. On a side note buying a PlayStation is a couple hundred dollars
plus a $2 more a month for online multiplayer.

No, that was a promotion for upgrading to Game Pass Ultimate. What you need to do is renew your Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
