You can stack up to 36 months for your membership this way

If you can try redeem the codes via xbox web page, log in and redeem code under profile. Also you can use the xbox phone app to redeem as well.

You can let your game pass expire and redeem code after.

The 3-month digital codes for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate do not expire.

And what error message do you receive when trying to redeem the code?

You cannot redeem trial codes for game pass if you ever had game pass on your account before. Doesn't matter if it is from a promotion, trial period or purchased.

But if you never had game pass on your account in the past, you need to contact the seller of this code. Xbox is not responsible for unofficial third party resellers' codes.

Do you have Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate? Because the error speak about "conversion", maybe you are trying to redeem an Xbox Live code of a different region and conversion to Game Pass Ultimate don't work in this way. As additional information the codes
are always region assigned.

In my experience, that error shows up when you're trying to redeem a trial Game Pass code on an account that has had the Game Pass subscription in the past. You wont be able able to redeem that code on your account sadly.
