Game pass playing games at the same account

Yes. You can play the same game at the same time using two different consoles; However, in order to do that you will need to be using two different profiles for each console.

Is the game pass subscription tied to the same account you are trying to play with or is there another account on the xbox that has the game pass. If it’s on another account, that would be the issue.

I have never purchased game pass but was still able to get the game through that and could still play it without game pass. Can a game pass bought on one account on the xbox be shared with another account on the same xbox?

You didn't buy a second account. You bought Game Pass and it has the game in it. You'll still play it using the same account you were playing with previously
