    Game pass on PC won't detect my drive to install games


    See attached screenshot below, Gamepass ultimate on my PC is not detecting my harddrive currently. In the past all I had to do was have the latest windows update and everything seemed to work, but now it is no longer detecting where I can install to. Apps
    will install but no PC games.

    I have went through the normal help topics I read online, with resetting windows store settings, also did a fresh install for the xbox games PC beta app. nothing has helped so far.

    Any help is appreciated thanks

    This sounds like it's detecting the games from games pass is that from game pass that are installed on your external hard drive?.

    I'm sure you mean well but....

    You don't have to install to the 'default' drive whatever that is.

    If your Windows 10 is working correctly - and error codes usually mean it isn't - you can instal on any drive.

    I have four drives for my PC, three internal and one external. I can use them all for PC game Pass games.

    Game pass might have the most overpaid programmers of all time.

    If the game is installed on an external, then I don't think there should be a problem playing them on another PC if you're also signed in for authentication purposes.
    Actually, it doesn't work the same as it does on console or like any other PC download service for that matter. In short it won't work.

    The reason why it won't work is because the games are encrypted, and this encryption digitally locks them to the PC they were originally installed to. If you put the drive in another PC, that other machine will not be able to see them.

    You can use your Game Pass or other purchased Windows Store on another PC, but the games themselves need to be downloaded again. you can't copy them across to another machine or play them off an external hard drive that was installed via a different PC.

    I reformatted it on my pc and then when put into the console it was detected before dissappearing again.
    When console detected the drive did it reformat the drive for Games and Apps?
