Game pass games gone but storage space still shows as used

I have reinstalled the xbox game pass app.

It is still showing Forza Horizon 5 as uninstalled.

When attempting to install, it shows 110gb of storage space free (I know that this should be closer to 220-230gb)- suggesting that the failed install from last night is still hogging drive space.

If I try to install Forza Horizon 5 again, it lingers on "preparing install" before failing without any error messages

It seems like there is some corrupt data somewhere that I need to clear both to free up space and allow me to reinstall the game.

To clarify, are you not seeing any space cleared up when you delete the game? Or are you referring to the storage that is used for the console's OS? There is always a piece of storage that will be unusable which may explain the 50gbs of space not showing
as free.

Even when I'm actively playing a game, the X/Y option will not show up. As for the storage, it's pretty full but not to the extreme. I think I still have around 20 GB of space.

Both system is Windows 11, every other application and installed gamepass game remains visible and usable. Gears of War 4 is installed in a hidden folder in Windows Apps, that shows 0 bytes, so the installation method doesn't seem to change after migration to game pass, it still behaves the old Windows Games method.

If I connect my external harddrive to the other Win11 pc, it instantly shows the space used by Gears of War 4 as empty. So the moment exlorer window pops up it shows 100 Gb more empty space.

If I move the external harddrive back to the laptop where my gamepass is installed, now it also shows the empty space, and the Gears of War 4 game is missing from installed games list.

If I reset the game pass application, it shows the game as playable, but there is no game on the disk so game pass cannot start the game.

I don't understand that the problem is a permission problem or the game is deleted completely.

If it was a permission problem why didn't it get resolved when I connect the disk to the original game pass laptop?

but if that was the case i should not be able to download it at all. it downloads all 6.73gb then says cant download, and looking on the harddrive it is their as corrupted shows 40kb but still uses 6.73gb of the storage space
