Game pass downgrade

Hi, I'm trying to redeem a 12 month gold membership code and it's auto converting into a 4 month game pass ultimate time. I do not want that, how do change it back? I canceled the subscription but when I try to put the code in it still converts.

According to the Amazon website, there is a possibility to downgrade, just wait for the subscription time to end. "Downgrading? After you've upgraded, you can still redeem Live Gold and Game Pass Console
codes towards the value of an Ultimate month. To downgrade, just wait for your Ultimate plan to end and re-join."

The Ultimate has to completely end before you can add the code and get just the 12 months gold. So if it shows you still have time left on the Ultimate subscription, then you can still just wait for that to run out and then add the code (you'd get more time
that way), or cancel it.

The gold would show as cancelled currently because when you purchase Ultimate while you have gold (or game pass) it is automatically converted into Ultimate.

If you cancelled it, the Ultimate subscription should have completely stopped. If you turned off auto-renewal, the subscription would continue until it expires. You can verify the subscription at http://account.microsoft.com

You would need to either cancel your current subscription and make sure it does cancel, or wait for the subscription to end, and then add the 12 month code.

Alright, will I still keep the number of years active on my profile?

It's not under my cancelled section, but when I click cancel, it said I still had time on it. So should I still wait for it to cancel then redeem? Also under the cancelled gold section it says convert to ultimate but when I click on it, it just links to
a page explaining the conversion.
