    Game Install Troubleshooting


    Hello, my name's Tawny. I recently bought Halo Wars 2 on the xbox games store. I recently installed the xbox app but are having major difficulties with getting it to work and install my game. I tried maybe 3 or 4 times to install the game on different drives on my PC. After several errors I decided to uninstall the app and tried to reinstall to remedy the problem. At this point I'm not able to reinstall the app as the installation stalls around 40 percent. I've gone through my PC to see if there are any loose files hanging about, I cannot seem to see the problem. To be honest I'm no super interested in jumping through too many hoops to fix my issue as it seems like a problem more with the app than with my end. Are there any clear or immediate solutions that come to mind? If not, can I request a refund for this game. I bought it only yesterday.

    Hello Tawny, thanks for sharing that. I can suggest other possible solutions in that case:

    Option A:

    1. Sign out from your account on both Xbox app and Microsoft Store

    2. Reset the Microsoft store cache using the wreset.exe command

    3. Double check if everything is up to date via Windows Settings > Update and Security > Windows Update, also check for Updates via Microsoft store

    4. Once everything is up to date try now to sign in with your account on both Xbox app and Microsoft Store

    5. Finally open the Xbox app and see if you can install the game

    Option B:

    Open task manager and go to the startup tab, once there click "disable" on each app listed there

    After that Restart the PC and see if the problem is solved

    Option C:

    Do a clean boot in your Windows PC. For that please follow this article

    This is the error I get. I've tried a few things already to fix the issue. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the Microsoft store, tried registering the app, and changing the default drive install location for apps.
