    How do I fix a game if it’s not compatible

    You can't. If you have an Xbox One S and the game is for the Series S|X, you'll need to buy the latest console or request a refund if you have already purchased an incompatible game.

    So I apparently just wasted my money for an Xbox Series X game…

    It is compatible with a Series X. It is not compatible with the One or a Series S since it doesn't have a disc drive.
    According to my Xbox Series X|S, the disc is “incompatible”, and I can only play a compatible version of it if I pay $62.99 for a new copy WITH EA Play.

    Hey Milo, unfortunately HDDs are incompatible with Series X/S games. You will have to shell out the several hundred dollars for their SSD card to expand your X/S storage. You can, however, play Xbox One and 360/Classic games with an HDD, hope this helps.

    in 99% of the cases you're absolutely right! however, the game is actually installing on my xbox series x right now. You can also find gameplay of prince of Persia the sands of time on series x on YouTube by well known host skycaptin 3. there were a select few backwards compatible titles that are available to buy on xbox marketplace but not microsoft store. It's very rare but there are some.

    I do wish that I had kept my Xbox 360 though for incompatible titles that wasn't prudent on my part.
