Game gift code for different but same region

Gifts bought from the Xbox store are Region locked to the same region they are purchased in. The person making the purchase is warned about that.

There isn't anything you can do to fix it, the person who bought the code will need to contact support for s refund as they made the purchase.

Your friend will have to get a refund or gift the code to a friend in the same region. It does state whilst purchasing that gifting only works in the same region.

• If the recipient receives the following error message: “Contact the seller to get a code that works in your region. The code was purchased in a different region and cannot be redeemed”—this means that givers and recipients must always be in the same country
  or region. If not, you can return the game for a refund.

Should be noted that if he isnt from the same region as you the code will not work

When he gifts you a game you receive a code for the cash or game

If you arent in the same region it will not work

And yes gifted currency and games are region locked

No, the codes are region specific. Is the code for a game, or is it for funds?

Might be best for him to return the code, and look at purchasing a game as a gift for the right region, or provide the funds for the code via different means.

You can't get an exchange code if you are in a different region to where the purchaser is. It does say on the gifting section about only working in the region it was purchased in. As stated your friend will either have to try to get a refund or gift to
another friend in the same region.
