Game Drive - you need to attach an xbox 360 hard drive

I have a Seagate Game Drive for Xbox which is attached to my Xbox 360 S 4gb. I put in a Halo CD for Xbox (original) and get this message, "you need to attach an xbox 360 hard drive to play original xbox games".

How can I get the Game Drive to be recognized? The packaging says it works with Xbox 360 but this is not working.

    Thanks in advance,

    AC

    :)

Actually Irixion, any 360 with an official Xbox hard drive can play compatible games. You would just need to attach an old style hard drive to the arcade and it would play them.

Game Drive - you need to attach an xbox 360 hard drive

Some games require an official 360 hard drive due to system files on them. Other external storage devices will not work.

  5. Do you have any other usb storage devices plugged into your console? Because the Xbox 360 will only recognize 2 at a time. So let’s say you have two flash drives plugged in already, it wouldn’t recognize the hard drive without removing one of the flash drives
    first.

  6. Smwutches is correct on this one. You need an official Xbox 360 hard drive installed in your Xbox 360 to play original Xbox game discs, as that drive has the required emulator to play the original Xbox games. Your model Xbox 360
requires a drive with a capacity of 250GB, 320GB or 500GB. These drives are no longer manufactured, but you might still find one online shopping sites such as eBay or amazon.

The software to correct play the original games is on the internal drives. To play them you would need to have an official Xbox hard drive (or someone who knows how to procure and install everything correctly) and put it in your
    system.

  8. Game Drive - you need to attach an xbox 360 hard drive

    Hi,

Don't try to get a 'new' Xbox 360 hard drive from Amazon or eBay. These hard drives are not official drives from Microsoft and despite being internal drives, they still won't allow the play of original Xbox games on your console. Only official hard drives
from Microsoft contain the pre-loaded backwards compatibility software to play original Xbox games.

Your best off looking for genuine 'used' Xbox 360 hard drives.

What specific Xbox 360 console do you own? Do you have an official Xbox 360 hard drive attached? In order to play Original Xbox games on Xbox 360, you need a console with an official Xbox 360 hard drive since the software required is stored on the hard drives
themselves. 3rd party hard drives or non-official Xbox 360 hard drives will not work.

    Hope this helps!

    Can't play San Andreas. Why?

The game needs to have an OFFICIAL Microsoft hard drive in the console. It will not work with a 3rd party hard drive or a hard drive attached by USB. Only the official Microsoft hard drives for the 360 carry the emulation software necessary to run the original
    Xbox games.

    Storage question

The transfer cable won't work that way. The system is set up to only see that to transfer data between Xbox hard drives. You would need a 360 hard drive attached (if games require them) or you can use and external USB hard drive or flash drive and redownload
    the games to that.

Marketplace Download Won't Play; Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

it is common knowledge that you need a MS brand hard drive inside or attached to your 360 (depending if you have a slim or a fat) cause those drives have the emulation software to enable playing of the old games. also it is because unlike the 360 ALL 1st
gen XBOX had hard drives so needless to say if you do not have a hard drive you will not get it to play. as for the refund, yeah you are not gonna get one as it is not MS fault you do not have a hard drive attached/inserted in your 360 sorry.
