Game disc download times

When downloading a disc you should disconnect from the internet. The console will download the game updates at the same time its performing the disc installation causing for longer times. Second taking almost 2 hours to download a 10 GB file like Fifa is
not a long time at all.

The blue ray disc drives do not spin fast enough to run a game from the disc. Thus, all games need to install onto a HDD first. You are also likely downloading a patch (if the game is a xbox one game on disc) that ends up finding and replacing various files
that were copied from the disc. If it is BC (backwards compatible) xbox 360 game on disc, the entire game is downloaded and the disc is only used as drm to make sure you properly own the game. The BC component requires a full download as MS has built a custom
software enclosure around the 360 software that allows the new console to operate it. FYI the other system also requires disc games be downloaded to the HDD as well (and has large patches that need to be downloaded from time to time).

Listen to the media and internet before downloading games and their updates, If it says that only disc 1 is required do not download disk 2. Reminder- DO NOT DOWNLOAD DISC 2. ONLY DISC 1. Why? Disc 2 will ad better graphics BUT textures and objects will
pop up at certain times.

It installs the whole disc only if there are no updates.

If there are updates then it will pull the updated files off the internet as the game is installed.

Dead rising 3 for instance downloads 12GB while installing even though the game is only about 20GB on disc.

So the only time the whole disc is installed without downloading anything is if there are no updates available.

You can avoid this by disconnecting your console from the internet before installing a disc. This will let the whole disc install without downloading anything. Problem is that next time you connect it will insist on downloading the update anyway.

Try installing the disc without downloading the update straight away and the game should download faster from the disc. If you have a slow internet connection then the update will probably take some time to download unfortunately.
