Game crashes and Xbox shuts down immediately

Hi, I have an Xbox One S (500GB) a little under a year old at this point, and I have it hooked up to a projector via HDMI, and it sits lateral in the alcove I have for it, with plenty of airflow. I also have a USB 3.0 1TB hard drive plugged into it for extra
storage. It is also wired networked and not using the wireless.

The issue i have been having is with Watch Dogs 2 where at a random time in the game, mainly when not on a mission, the game locks up, audio glitches at a steady buzzing sound, and one of two things happen: It either closes itself and goes back to the Home
screen where i can restart the game, or it crashes and the whole Xbox shuts itself down without error.

I have tried unplugging the power to reset the board but that didn't seem to make a difference. I do have the game installed on the external, I don't foresee that being the problem since all my other games are installed there and don't pose this issue, it
only happens with Watch Dogs 2. I have tried cleaning the disc, no change. When i first got the game, it never happened with hours of use, but this just started to happen and I can hardly play it for 30 mins before it locks up.

My next thing to try is to move the game from the external to the internal hard drive, but i'm not too hopeful that will fix it. So does anyone have any ideas on what this might be? Thanks

No Man's Sky Xbox One X Crashing

I bought this game earlier tonight and I keep getting the same crashes. Where the whole one x shut down and I have to walk over and press the power button. I've never had any game crash so hard it shuts down my system

Xbox shuts off when using a app, then starting a game. Or vise versa

If im using a app, example youtube/microsoft edge. And I launch a game while the app is running. It immediately shuts my console completely down. To where i have to do a full reboot to get to my home screen.

Like wise if im playing a game, example fallout 4. And i launch a app, (youtube/microsoft edge) then go back to the game. It instantly crashes my system and completely shuts down.

This has been going on for the last two months, and i have no idea why.

Xbox support, what is my problem?

No. It would just freeze with the crashing buzz sound and then shuts off immediately. None of my other games are affected by this. However, it may look like my Xbox One is declining in it's health.

Thanks for reaching out to the forums for advice on how to hopefully get your console back in working order. I can totally understand how terribly distressing an issue like this could be for anyone to experience. In instances like this, I suggest trying
a soft factory reset of the console.

It's a reset of your console back to factory settings but one that does not uninstall any of your games or apps and is a really good troubleshooting step for most issues.

When you get the chance, try following the steps here on
How to reset your console to factory defaults on Xbox One, selecting the option denoted reset and keep my games & apps and let us know how that helps with the issue.

Hey there, so let’s try to run down a list of what to try and get this fixed for you hopefully

so for the moment I would delete modern warfare and keep it off the Xbox just to get everything under control. I also would try to run everything off the internal hard drive only and not leave the external hard drive plugged in. And then the next two things
I can think of is checking under System settings to clear the cache memory out, and as soon as you do that, hold the power button down for 10 seconds to do a hard reset.

Then turn the system back on and see if that makes any difference. For the moment leave the external hard drive unplugged and don’t install modern warfare just yet and try some games and see what happens
