Game chat while in Discord/Party Chat

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you have an issue in regard to the audio in parties to your Xbox. Let’s work together in finding the best resolution to this issue.

For me to better understand the issue, I’d like to ask a few questions:

• Is this your first time to encounter the issue?
  
• What are the changes made to the device that might cause the issue?
  

I went to the Xbox official and gather all the information needed to correct the issue. You may follow the steps below.

Method A. Check the Xbox Status

Method B. If you can’t hear the person you’re trying to chat with after joining their party, try these tips:

• Check that your privacy settings allow communication with everyone. Press the Xbox button  to open the guide and select Profile & system > Settings > Account > Privacy & online safety > Xbox privacy. Select View details & customize > Communication & multiplayer, and then make your changes.
  
• Unmute or unblock the person you’re trying to chat with. Press the Xbox button  to open the guide, and then select Parties & chats. Select the party to expand the party roster, choose the person you want to unmute, and select Unmute.
  
• Check the party chat volume for each person in your party. Press the Xbox button  to open the guide, and then select Parties & chats. Select the party to expand the party roster, choose the person you want to check, and then verify that their volume slider is at a level that you can hear. To change the volume level, move left or right using the D-pad or the left stick to adjust the volume slider.
  
• Check that you have joined party chat from within the party window.
  
• Check to make sure you’re not in a Discord voice channel. If you are, it’ll say “Discord” and the name of the channel. If you’re in a Discord voice channel, go to the following page for troubleshooting suggestions: How to use Discord with Xbox
  
• Check to see if the party member who is unable to be heard has Noise Suppression enabled on their settings. To toggle this on and off:
  
  1. Press the Xbox button  to open the guide and select Parties & chats.
     
  2. Highlight the party listed and then press the A button  > Options.
     
  3. Turn Noise Suppression on and off.
     

Method C. Getting Echo when another person talks

• Press the Xbox button  to open the guide, then select Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Kinect.
  
• Choose Kinect doesn't hear me.
  
• Follow the onscreen guide to recalibrate your Kinect.

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues connecting to discord through your Xbox. For us to further isolate your issue, kindly share the exact error message that you received.

If you're connected to a Discord voice channel on your Xbox console, your party chat status will say “Discord” and the name of the voice channel that you're in. If you want to join or start an Xbox party chat, disconnect from the Discord voice channel so that you can switch over to game or party chat.

While I currently do use Discord over XBL Party Chat, it does hinder a few of my friends that don't have a pc close to them or able to use their phone for Discord. If they did bring Discord to both Xbox and PS4 via app, you'd be able to play cross play games
with chat easier.

Thank you for posting on the Xbox Communities Forum. You can't use game chat features while in an Xbox Party or Discord voice chat, you must switch to game chat in order to use proximity chat in-game.
