  1. Game Captures not showing up on Xbox app, but on console it says they are on the network?

I am trying to get some game captures off my xbox but I'm having a few different problems

    1. When I upload them to OneDrive they upload as two pictures, one super washed out and the other really dark. I can't see a way to fix this?
    2. I have since discovered I can download them on my phone from the xbox app, but can't find a way to do this on PC, all the guides I found say use the console companion app which is apparently obsolete and redirects me to the Xbox app. It would be a lot easier for me if I could have them on my laptop rather than my phone.
    3. Some of the captures don't show up on the xbox app on my phone, but when I check them on my console it says they are not on the console but are on the network. Because of this, my only upload options on it are share, upload to OneDrive (useless because of problem 1) or upload to external storage.
    4. Last time I tried the external storage option it wanted me to format the usb, and I don't have a spare one that can be formatted specifically for xbox usage as they are all needed for other things.
    5. I tried opening the capture to fullscreen and doing another capture/screenshot of it, but I just get a popup telling me to start a game to be able to do captures
Is there a way to stop the double image thing with OneDrive?
And is there a way to redownload them from the network to my console so that I can try and reupload? I'm reluctant to do the "delete from xbox network" unless I know that will let me reupload it to the network, especially as these ones are no longer showing as being on the console itself.

    :)

Game Captures not showing up on Xbox app, but on console it says they are on the network?

    Hello kanashiirobotto

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

It seems like you are having trouble with your game captures. Let's try to troubleshoot the issue.

Firstly, let's try to resolve the issue of game captures not showing up on the Xbox app. Please try the following steps:

    • 1. Make sure that your Xbox app is up to date. You can check for updates in the Microsoft Store.
      2. Sign out of the Xbox app and sign back in.
      3. Restart your PC and try again.
      4. If the issue persists, try resetting the Xbox app. To do this, go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features > Xbox > Advanced options > Reset.

Regarding the issue of the double image thing with OneDrive, it's possible that the issue is with the file format of the game captures. Please make sure that the game captures are saved in a compatible file format, such as MP4 or WMV.

As for redownloading the game captures from the network to your console, you can try the following steps:

    • 1. On your console, go to Settings > System > Storage.
      2. Select the storage device where your game captures are saved.
      3. Select "View contents" to see the game captures.
      4. Select the game capture you want to download and select "Copy to USB".
      5. Connect a USB drive to your console and select it as the destination for the game capture.
      6. Once the game capture is copied to the USB drive, you can connect the USB drive to your PC and transfer the game capture to your laptop.

We look forward to your next response.

    Xbox captures are completely broken?

On your console Home Guide menu select Capture & share > Recent captures >Show all >Manage captures

That will show you your captures you have uploaded to the Xbox network. You can change this to captures on this console to show those captures.

If you change the look on screen to small icons (press 4 squares) you will have other options as well as a delete choice.

Looking at this screen outlay, on console captures will inform you if they have been uploaded to the Xbox network or not.

Captures on the console that have been uploaded to the xbox network can be deleted from the console if you want. Be aware that there is a finite available space on the console for captures that fills up very quickly if you make a lot of clips and/or screenshots.

Uploaded Captures on the xbox network can also be deleted.

I use the sort option and delete captures regularly from both my console and Xbox network to keep my captures manageable.

Can't upload captures to Xbox Live or One Drive.

Check if you need to delete some clips etc to clear space not only on your console but in OneDrive and Xbox Live network.

Press controller Nexus button to get >Guide> Capture&share>Recent captures>Show all to Manage captures on the console and the Xbox network.

You'll need the One Drive app to check if you have used up all your space allocation.

    9-days-old Captures Missing

Hi Alexkatbat! My name is Ricardo an independent advisor ready to help you with this situation!

When you make a capture, the file that represents it exists only on your console. Uploading your captures to the Xbox network is helpful for two things: viewing your captures when you’re using a mobile or PC app from Xbox, and sharing your captures.

Automatic uploading is standard, but in case you need to turn it on, press the Xbox button  to open the guide, and then go to Profile & system > Settings > Preferences > Capture & share > Automatically upload.

To upload a capture that wasn’t uploaded automatically, select the capture, and then select Upload.

    Things to keep in mind

You can upload up to 10 GB of captures to the Xbox network. Once you reach those limits, you’ll need to delete existing captures to upload new ones.

Any game clip or screenshot uploaded to the Xbox network that gets no views in 30 days will be deleted. Viewing it yourself counts as a view and saves a capture from deletion.

Captures that don't get uploaded to the Xbox network will remain on the console they were recorded on.

Is there a capture (screenshot) limit, and can I restore captures that were automatically deleted?

Hi HTWretched, my name is Rodrigo. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

I am sorry to hear that.

This is strange, the console does not delete local screenshots.

Did you console crash or lost power during this game session?

    The limit is for upload:

"You can upload up to 10 GB of captures to the Xbox network.

Once you reach that limit, you’ll need to delete existing captures to upload new ones.

Captures that aren’t uploaded to the Xbox network will remain on the console where they were recorded."

Have you tried to look for them on your Xbox App?

Launch the Xbox app on your iOS or Android device.

At the bottom of the screen, select My Library > Captures.
