Game Bar Recording footage loss

Hello!

I'm running some slightly older version of Windows10 1903 but I told the game bar to record and right at the end I accidentally hit the 'Minimize' button on the window and the recording failed. It didn't seem to put any of it anywhere, which is a little
odd because it doesn't seem to me like it should just disappear. I was able to successfully record a 4GB, nearly 1 hour clip the other day, though I didn't minimize the game at the end.. Today's clip was not quite as long, and I have the maximum length set
to 2 hours anyway.

Is there a location where the screen record would be cached, or anything I can do to recover it? I tried poking around in the AppData folder but I don't know what I was expecting when I didn't find anything.

Recording using Game bar isn't a given, PC/laptops pre 2015 or without a dedicated graphics card can't record game footage.

While you're playing a game, press the Windows logo key + G to open Xbox Game Bar.
Choose Widget Menu > Capture.
Choose Start recording, Take screenshot, or Record last….
Record last… turns the most recent moments of play into a game clip when background recording is turned on. Set the duration in Windows Settings > Gaming > Captures.
Find your game clips and screenshots by opening Game Bar and selecting Widget Menu > Gallery.
To set your resolution and upmarket everything to 4K:
To capture game footage, make sure the Record in the background while I'm playing a game checkbox is selected in Game Bar settings (or turn it on in Windows Settings > Gaming > Captures).
For some PC games, Game Bar won't appear in full screen mode. To start and stop recordings without Game Bar, use the keyboard shortcut Windows logo key + Alt + R. The screen will flash to indicate the start and end of recording. If background recording is on, Windows logo key + Alt + G will record the last moments of play.
If the shortcuts don't work for a full-screen game, press the Windows logo key + G. The screen will flash twice to confirm that the game has been recognised. Then, re-open the game in full screen mode.

Ah this is annoying!

It sounds like there is an issue with the save location of your file.

If you record some short 1-2min footage does the game footage save as expected?
