    As the topic says...

I've tried repairing and resetting through the Apps & Features. I've tried going through PowerShell to remove the Xbox suite and having them reinstall, gone through RegEdit and tried a couple of different things, but when I try to Enable Game Bar in the Settings, if I click 'out' and back on Xbox Game Bar, the enabling hasn't 'saved'. Game Bar doesn't come up if I press the Xbox button on my controller (a Razer Wolverine V2), and Win+g doesn't bring Game Bar up (if I press the Windows key, and then G, Windows will 'search' for Game Bar and surface it. I'm led to believe this is tied to achievement notifications not popping up on-screen when I get achievements in Game Pass games. My other PC, which will often be in sleep, will pop those achievement notifications when I wake it up.

    Any suggestions?

EDIT - I also tried to use the Elite Series 2, and the Xbox button on that controller did nothing to launch Game Bar et al.

    :)

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you have an issue in regard of retaining the Game bar enable in your windows computer. Let’s work together in finding the best resolution to this issue.

For me to better understand the issue, I’d like to ask a few questions:

    • What is the make and model of your computer?
    • Is this working before?
    • When was the issue started?
    • What is the current version and build of your windows computer? (Press the Windows key + R type winver then hit Enter)
The following are the suggested methods to correct the issue. Please be guided.

    Method A. Update Windows

    • Start button, and then go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Install all pending updates
Method B. Turn Off "Enable Xbox Game Bar for things like recording game clips, chatting with friends, and receiving game invites."

    • Press the Windows key + I to open the Settings
    • Go to Gaming
    • Choose Xbox Game Bar
    • Turn Off "Enable Xbox Game Bar for things like recording game clips, chatting with friends, and receiving game invites."
    Method C. Clean Boot

    • In the Search box on the taskbar, type msconfig and select System Configuration from the list of results.

    • On the Services tab of System Configuration, select Hide all Microsoft services, and then select Disable all. Select Apply.

    • On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select Open Task Manager.

    • On the Startup tab in Task Manager, for each Enabled startup item, select the item and then select Disable. (Keep track of which items have been Disabled. You will need to know this later.)

    • Close Task Manager.
    • On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select OK.
Let us know the result and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

We look forward to your response.

Thanks for the detailed reply (I do appreciate it), but none of these steps mention anything about achievements for 'Xbox' PC games not showing on the screen or the Xbox button on controllers/Win+G not activating/opening Game Bar. The steps mentioned also didn't fix the more minor issue of Game Bar not reminaing activated in the Settings.

My PC isn't a specific make, it's a custom build.

I believe it was working when I first got the PC home, and it stopped working at a certain point - I believe the Game Bar recording was interfering with another function of some kind.

I can't remember when the issue started, unfortunately.
