FSX:SE failing to start (steam.dll failing module)

Hi, been having an issue with FSX failing to start. I have checked the crash logs which identify 'steam.dll' to be the failing module. Does anybody know how to remedy this?

This may be an issue with the Steam app. The first step I recommend is restarting your computer.

Then, clear your Steam download cache: Navigate to your Steam -> Settings -> Downloads -> Clear Cache

If that doesn't work, repair your Steam library folder: Navigate to your Steam -> Settings -> Storage -> ... -> Repair Folder

Try verifying the game's files: Find Game in Library -> Right click game title -> Properties -> Installed Files -> Verify Integrity of Game Files

If none of this works, redownload the Steam installer from this link: http://store.steampowered.com/about/?snr=

Reinstall Steam to the same location where it is already installed. This may fix potential issues with Steam client and service files. Installing into same location will preserve all installed games.

Thank you for your assistance

I did a Verify files through steam account in early December but that has not help.

The CTD doesn't happen all the time. I deleted my fsx se cfg file and started fsx se to build a new one to see if it was a corrupt cfg file but that hasn't worked.

I never had the issue when I wasrunning windows 7

You can find startup sound in settings. If it’s enabled, the startup sound is its own module and speaker, so that part may have failed. It’s nothing to worry about.

Definitely it seems the console needs to be repaired. Probably the controller connection module on the console is failing, and as you already performed the offline update.
