    good evening, i've been having this issue for a while where my games are capped at 240fps yet when uncapped the game turns very clunky and not smooth. this happens in games like valorant, csgo etc etc. i have g sync off, v sync off so it cant be those capping the fps. i disable FSO on the .exe of the game file and have tried all of the registry entries to try and disable fso globally but nothing seems to work. even after a fresh windows install the problem still occurs which leads me to think its a hardware issue. cpu is 5900x and gpu is 2080s with 32gb of 3600mhz ram cl17. apex legends for example caps at 240 regardless of fso being disabled or enabled and the game runs as if it is being played at 90 fps and not 270-300 that i get in game. valorant for example i have to cap at 245 to run as smooth as possible but when i cap at 300 or play uncapped the visuals turn horrible. have been having this issue for so long now and no one seems to have an answer. any help is appreciated.

    Hi mate, I get upwards of 900 in the range but obviously in game it fluctuates a lot more, goes anywhere from 350-600 but stays relatively high all the time. Game is hugely cpu bound and I play 1080p on low settings, I’ll contact nvidia I think

    Because in some games like valorant for example, frame timings are better when you have the game uncapped, and therefore provides the edge. I get anywhere from 500-600 in valorant, obviously is a crazy amount of fps but would be nice to have the option to play uncapped you know?

    that is for older games that came out before windows 10 or designed for 7 and earlier.

    Got it. Have you installed any programs to monitor how the GPU/CPU/temperature is being used to see if everything is running properly?

    I saw a comment on the Nvidia forum that might help you, try to adjust the game according to this image.
