Frustrated With Child Account

After much research and many mistakes, and being stuck spinning my wheels, I finally got an account created for my 7 year old. I purchased a couple of games (downloaded to console), and now the console is telling me he can't play the games unless:

1) the purchaser (ME) is signed in, and

2) the console is connected to the internet

I don't WANT my 7 year old on the internet at any time. He didn't have to be on XBL to play games on the old 360. Why is the xbox one s console demanding a connection? Can (and if so, HOW) I allow him to play "offline" while the console is ONLINE?

My other question is, how is a kid supposed to play a game that he himself didn't purchase? I don't know any 7 year olds with a credit card. Therefore, I puchased the games for him, with MY XBL account.

I am approaching 3 hours trying to set up the console, buy and download the games, set up a SAFE account for him, etc. And I appear to be no farther along than I was when I walked in the door with the console this afternoon.

If anyone can offer constructive assistance, I would be extremely grateful. I don't know if it's on option here, but please feel free to reply to my email address, if possible.

Error: You cannot play online multiplayer through Xbox Live because of how your account is set up.

Same problem! Microsoft, what is the solution? User experience with your parental controls is TERRIBLE.
My husband is eventually going to take this (expletive removed) Xbox out to the sidewalk and smash it with a hammer because my child is so frustrated that we can't get a safe, functioning child account set up for him to play on (while most of his friends
are undoubtedly playing with unprotected, adult accounts).

Account not showing on xbox

created 2 child accounts and they appeared on xbox sign in screen.

However one of the accounts has disappeared although the settings for each account are identical.

I can see them in the family as active accounts

At a loss why this has happened

In order for him to play the games tied to your account, you would have to set the console as your Home console - My Home Xbox Setting on Xbox One | Share Your Xbox One

There is no way necessarily to play offline while the console is online. The games would either need to be purchased on his account (you can add prepaid gift cards to his account to make a purchase) or you would need the game on disc in order for him to
play online.

I understand that this issue is really frustrating. Just to clarify, does this mean that the previous support advised you to delete your child's account from the parent's account link then had the case get escalated?

Sorry for your frustration on this issue. As it sounds that you do have a child account, when you created it if you are under 18 and used your birthday on xbox it is set to a child. As you are unable to change the birthdate at all on xbox.com once it is
set.

This is just getting frustrating now, still no help. Everytime i try to go to my xbox account on the site i go to a microsoft page about childs privacy or something.

I have this same problem. My birthdate is also correct (I'm obviously old enough) and all of my online permissions ate unrestricted. I am the only one on my account (there are no child accounts). So frustrating
