  1. Frustrated by ongoing wireless controller disconnecting

We got a new xbox one for Christmas.

The wireless controllers keep disconnecting every couple of minutes which is very frustrating.

Our configuration is the xbox is in a room at the back of our basement. The console is about 10-15 feet from the seating area and is hooked up to a projector. The picture is amazing, but with the controllers disconnecting so frequently it is maddening.
We have a wireless router down in this area as well.

The console is new. There are 2 new controllers with new batteries in each, both of which are disconnecting so it is not the controller that is the issue. They have both been updated. We have done the reboot of the console. I have even tried turning
off the wireless router to test and the controllers still disconnect. For years we have had an xbox 360 in the same location without any disconnect issues. Some of the posts seem to suggest that you need to move the location of the console, get it closer,
in the open, etc. This is not an option. I can't rearrange the construction of my home just so the stupid controllers can speak to each other (especially when the "old" version worked fine in the same location for years.) I am not sure what to do next.
I want to like the system, but I can't with constant disconnects. In checking online I am seeing that this is a somewhat commonly reported problem. If I would have know this I would have switched and went with a PS4 but I really wanted to continue with
the xbox. Can someone help and restore my faith in the xbox? Is it possible I have a bad console? I am not excited about packing it up and shipping it back, but if that would fix it I would do that.

    :)

    Xbox One - Controller Problems

Been an ongoing problem for a while now. Just wondered if anyone else has suffered with it.

My controller randomly decides to disconnect and then either reconnects straight away or flashes for a few seconds then reconnects.

I've tried re synching, reseting, moving the console etc. Nothing seems to work. It can happen every minute sometimes, and then other times it will let me play for 20 minutes without doing it.

As you can imagine it's insanely frustrating. Anyone know of any experiences like this? Cheers

Same issue here, it's a huge issue with threads all over the net about it. Microsoft can't fixed it at the moment and ignore most threads about it. Sorry but it's the sad truth.

Same here man. Sucks cause many people are having this problem and Microsoft doesn't want to do anything about it.

^Summed it up just about right. & I'm afraid if I send it in for repair it will still have the same issue. Its funny though because I never had this problem until the new dashboard update. I dont possibly think it can be a hardware issue as I never had it
before. I want to try the offline system update thing to see if that'll help..

OP, hate to suggest it but you should keep aware of any return period applicable to your console. I'm on controller #3 since launch and have had NO progress addressing this controller issue. A look back at the forums shows a single minded denial on the manufacturer's
side; only posts linking to the standard battery, cable, remove obstructions, and send-it-in suggestions. Too many have done so and received consoles with the same problem.

Considering the duration of the problem and the lack of an acknowledgement by MS I hope you'll avoid my and others' situation, wherein our Xbox Ones gather dust due to the utter frustration of not being playable...

    Best of luck!

I would much rather just buy a new one cause that's your best bet.. At least that's what I'm planning on doing. There's never any help on Microsoft's side.

Got mine in July15, 1TB unit. Worked fine for about 2.5 months, then controller started disconnecting, never before that. Disconnects when USB connected as well. Tried everything, including new controller, 5 different USB cables, bought a rechargable
pack, etc. Nothing helps. Wireless connections for controllers stopped working altogether. Sent console back for repair. Came back with no indication that a problem was found. Wireless controllers would connect, but still randomly disconnect, same with
USB, no rhyme or reason, sometimes unusable, sometimes hours without a disconnect. Sending it back again but using the "advanced replacement" so I get a new console. To me this smells like a design defect since others seem to have no problem whatsoever.
Given that its both USB and wireless, the common point of logic is the USB hub in the XBOX One, so thats my guess. Crossing my fingers that the next one works. It will be my last one way or another.

I'm afraid of doing a factory reset I'll lose so much progress in gaming and I'm pretty sure you have to download the profile again since everything reset. I've read that several people have done this with no luck whatsoever

    Okay, maybe this will help:

    support.xbox.com/.../offline-system-update-diagnostic-tool

I personally dont know whats going on with all those disconnects, but factory reset and offline diagnostic toll helped me.

Many people said after the NXOE update the dc's have started and others said after the last update it was fixed. For me it was a Software issue. Try System Update Diagnostic Tool. If this doesnt help send your Xbox to MS.

  14. Hi. If the problem isn't a hardware issue you may be able to solve it by doing the following:

1.While the console is on, press and hold the console’s Xbox button for 5 seconds.

2.The console will power down. Unplug the power cable\power supply.

3.Wait 30 seconds, plug it back in and then turn your console back on by again pressing the Xbox button.

    4. To delete your profile, please go to Settings >> Sign-in, security & passkey >> Remove me from this Xbox.

    5. Please go to Settings >> Disc & Blu-ray >> Persistent Storage >> Blu-ray >> Clear Persistent Storage.

    6. After that, please go to Settings >> Network >> Advanced Settings >> Alternate MAC >> Clear Alternate MAC >> Restart.

    7. Re-enter your profile details

    Try it now.

I wish I could restore your faith. It took my Xbox about 6-8 months before it started disconnecting. Now I get maybe 5 minutes of play before it disconnects for a minute or two. So far I have:

    • Replaced batteries with standard and rechargeable
    • Replaced the controller
    • Used it with and without Kinect
    • Had the console "fixed" under warranty
    • Had the console replaced under warranty
    • Moved it to a new location/TV
    • Replaced router and cable modem
No luck. I literally sit 18 inches from my Xbox as I game on a 21" PC monitor so its not like I'm 30 feet away. It is so unbelievably frustrating. I already own a PS4, and if all my friends decided to ditch Xbox One and buy PS4s I would walk my Xbox One
out to the garbage and never look back.

Oh by the way, after speaking with Microsoft support for hours their suggestion was to just keep my controller plugged in while playing! Thanks Microsoft!
