Friends permanently muted

A few months ago I muted a friend on xbox and didn't play with him for a while. Yesterday we tried to play together again and I couldn't unmute him, he was permanently muted. Today I joined a party with a friend I regularly play with and he was also permanently
muted even though I never muted him. The friend I hadn't played with in a while could sometimes hear me but not consistently and the friend I regularly play with could always hear me fine. None of us have any bans and have never had this issue before.

Hi guys, I have been trying for a week now and it doesn’t look like anyone else has had this problem... A week ago I accidentally muted my friend on Xbox, Now he is permanently muted. I have tried to unmute him but it always switches back to saying I have
to unmute him... I can hear everyone and he can hear everyone it’s just that I can’t hear him, he can hear me fine though... We are not on the same internet connection which makes it even more complicated, the only posts I have seen about this is when 2 people
are on the same connection... anyone got a solution?
