Friend can't unblock

My friend blocked me and now is trying to unblock me but it doesn't work and it sometimes works and then blocks me again 10 min after. It's sometimes where I can hear him but he can't hear me to. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Based on the description, the ability to block and unblock is not normally working between you and your friends. Let us check and see on what we can do to help address your concern in a timely manner.

We would like to ask few questions to help us isolate the issue further.

1. Is this happening to specific friend only or happening to all? How about blocking another friend, and unblocking it afterwards, does it go through?

2. Are you playing on Xbox One or Xbox 360?

3. Can you see your friend's status like offline, or online?
