Friend can't hear me, but he's the only one

Alright here's a weird one. I'm trying to play on Xbox Live via a party with my friend and everything was fine when suddenly my audio cuts out. I can hear him perfectly fine, but he can't hear me. However, other friends I've played with can hear me, and
he can hear his other friends, so it's a specific problem between me and him. It isn't just for the game we were playing at the time, but any game we've played since then. At this point we've tried everything, up to and including:

Muting and unmuting

Unfriending and re-friending

Restarting the Xbox (hard restart)

Unplugging and plugging in speaker set

Getting a different speaker set

Restarting the router

Checking connection

Checking privacy settings

We've tried these fixes on both ends. Any other suggestions about what could possibly be wrong or fixes to try would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

If it's just that specific friend, I'd tell him to mute you and then unmute or even block and unblock

Quick question, are you plug into the headset adaptor or just the controller itself? If you plug into the adaptor, the adaptor could possibly be the problem, this was one of the issues for me so i bought a new adaptor.

Another thing you and your friend can try is to check to see if the controller’s firmware is updated. This was another issue for me but was fix by going to settings-> kinect&devices -> devices&accessories -> select ... for more options -> select firmware version.
If its not updated, you need to update it. If it is updated, then the only other thing i can think of is the controller itself.

This would be my last suggestion, sometimes the headphone jack on the controller itself can get messed up when people play rough so you may just need to replace the controller itself.

My other friend can hear and talk to both of us just fine in the party but i can't hear my friend and he can't hear me

We are both on console and so are my friends he is the only one that cant hear me.

Yeah thats not the issue. We find out something else which is that when joining on the xbox app on mobile he still cannot hear me, and I signed into a different account and joined through there and he still couldn't hear me
