Free Xbox game for Live Gold member given to me and then taken away and I get treated like I ...

A few days ago I signed up for a new 12-motnh xBox Live Gold membership because I saw that they were giving away NHL15 for free to members. I don't know what sort of junk games they usually give away, but I really wanted this game and it was obviously
well worth me paying the $60 for a new membership even though I had a few months left in the prepaid card I had been happily using to play online since I bought the system. So, I signed up and successfully downloaded the free NHL15 and had been playing it
without issue from that time up until this morning. When I tried to start the game today I received an error message basically saying that I do not own the game, so I called customer service and was basically then told that there is no record of them ever
having a promotion giving that game away for free. The first gentleman I spoke to and his supervisor more or less alluded to the possibility that I was being dishonest and the only reason their records showed I had in fact been playing the game the past few
days was because I was really using a friend's copy of the game or some nonsense. After about 40 minutes of ridiculously terrible customer service over the phone, the only thing for me to do was to suck it up and cancel my new membership and get my $60 back.
It was like dealing with some trashy bodega in the ghetto.

Did anybody else download (or at least notice the promotion) NHL15 for free this past weekend? I don't know how I would magically be the only person that rmistakenly received this, but it was the only reason I went ahead and signed up for a 12-month
membership, especially considering I still had a few months left in the card I have been using to play online without issue I purchased when I bought the system in December.

Anyways, I plan on never spending another penny directly with this company. I have read all over the internet that they simply don't care and that this is to be expected from their customer service department, but it really ticks me off and simply
getting a refund upon cancelling my new membership is weak. Any respectable company would have owned their mistake and made things right, not implied I was lying and dishonest and then not doing jack to fix it. I would just love to know if anyone else saw
NHL15 for free. I enjoyed magically playing it the past couple days at least!

xbox live games for gold dos not work for dos who buy there gold members from store and not on the internett. they want you to give up your kridittcard nr away to them to let you buy the game from internet even when the game i free for you who are gold.they
tell you to buy gold and get free games twice every mondt . and then they want your kriditt card nr. its ***.

i want my free games with out giving away my kriditt car. i have pay'd for my free games. give me my free games before my gold member ship end!

it's pretty simple for me, MS will show games, and announce free xbox live/gold members get treated like PSN+ members, or I will avoid the next xbox console.

 

you probably downloaded it from the ea access app. With that app it, if you buy a membership of 4.99 a month or 30 bucks for a year. you get all the ea sports games for free essentially if you have the 4.99 membership. This passed week they had a promotion
to all gold members which allowed you to download 8 ea games for free this week only. I know this because i did the same thing and when i woke up last night the same error message popped up for me as did for you saying i didnt own the game. I hope this helps.

 

The game was part of a promotion for E3 as part of "Free Play Days". It was only available to access for free for a week. If you want to keep the game you have to purchase it or you would need an EA Access subscription in order to keep playing for free.
It was noted on the game that you would only have access until the 22nd.
