Free play fallout 76 xbox October 21-26 not really free

Free Play Days are for people who have a Gold subscription or Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We see you have a question on a game. The game is able to be downloaded for free. However, Fallout 76 is an online multiplayer game that is why it is asking you to get a subscription. As the game is free the multiplayer
aspect isn't that requires a live subscription.

Ok it only means the game is free to download. Microsoft are good for lying and bringing confusions!

I found an article from October 22, 2020 talking about the Game Pass Ultimate promotion with Scrapbox and it looks like there was a deadline last October 2020 to get access to the Game Pass Ultimate bundle. Here's a link to the article and a snip below to save you the click:

"Finally, get a taste of a Fallout 1st membership with the free Fallout 1st Preview. In order to claim it, all you have to do is log in between October 20 and October 26, find the free Fallout 1st Limited Preview “item” in the Atomic Shop, and you’ll have access to some of the features offered with the membership, including the Scrapbox, Survival Tent, and some free goodies."

Starting on Dec. 12, people who don't own Fallout 76 will be able to
play the game for free until Dec. 16. Free weekend play ended.
