Free gamertag change isn't available

Keep in mind the free gamertag change is only available if you were given a randomly generated tag when you created your account and are changing that tag for the first time. If you have a tag of your own choosing, then you've already used your change
and would need to pay to change it.

I did and they told me to post here, which I thought was weird but alright I'll go back there and talk to them again.

I'm afraid Live chat was wrong, there is no free gamertag change available for any case. (other then the ability to change the auto generated gamertag once in the first 30 days after account creation)

Using a personal name isn't advised but it isn't breaking any rules, but to reassure you, for me it doesn't look like a personal name was used in the gamertag.
